The Center for the Future of Dispute Resolution (Ghent University) is pleased to announce the next edition of its “Everything you always wanted to know but never dared to ask” seminar series. In this series, experts are invited to introduce non-legal topics that, while often unfamiliar to lawyers, are of growing importance for dispute resolution.

This session will address deepfakes and generative AI, with a special focus on how such content is technically created and how it can be detected. Deepfakes pose a real challenge for dispute resolution, raising pressing questions about the authenticity and integrity of evidence. For this reason, it is crucial for lawyers and dispute resolution experts to understand the basics of this technology.

Our guest speaker, Hannes Mareen, will provide an accessible technical introduction to the phenomenon and discuss its broader implications.

The event is organized in collaboration with the ELI Dispute Resolution Special Interest Group, reflecting the shared vision and mission of both fora to connect dispute resolution with broader societal and technological trends.
