The Center for the Law of Obligations and Property regularly meets to discuss recent developments in contract, tort and property law, in particular recent Supreme Court case law and legislation. Researchers are also invited to present their projects and to increase the exchange of views. The ongoing research of the members of the Center is being discussed as well.

Doctoral Research

  • Jennifer Callebaut (assistant): Examination of the degree of legal certainty in the realization of the (re) sale agreement of property (since February 2012 under the supervision of Prof. Martin Dambre.)
  • Jan De Bruyne (assistant): Third Party Liability or Certifiers (since October 2012 under the supervision of Prof. Marc Kruithof.)
  • Michael Potter said at Broeck (assistant): the impact of unforeseen events on contractual obligations (since January 2010 under the supervision of Professor Ignace Claeys.)
  • Olivier Eloot (scientific collaborator): The indirect harmonization of private law through harmonization of supervision law. The case of MiFID. (Under supervision of prof. Marc Kruithof)
  • Sophie Guilliams (assistant): the plurality of-liable in Tort (since October 2007 under the supervision of Prof. Marc Kruithof, Co-supervisor: prof. Ingrid Boone.)
  • On November 3, 2015 Geert Jocqué successfully defended his thesis on the legal protection of the insured and the injured party liability insurance.
  • On June 9, 2015 Thijs Tanghe successfully defended his dissertation on the partial destruction and termination of contracts.
  • On September 16, 2011 Joke Baeck successfully defended her thesis on the restitution after destruction and after the dissolution of commitments.
