Florine Killemaes
Florine Killemaes specializes in remote sensing of snow and glaciers and data assimilation.
In 2025, I finished my master’s degree in Bioscience Engineering: Land, Water and Climate. During my thesis, I studied the sensitivity of X-band and C-band radar backscatter and L-band radar interferometry to snow accumulation across the European Alps. Afterwards, I started my PhD within the Hydro-Climate Extremes Lab. In my research project GLOW, I focus on remote sensing of snow and glaciers and the assimilation of these satellite observations into coupled snow–glacier–hydrological models to improve hydroelectric reservoir inflow forecasting.
