Seminar Overview:
Soil sensing technologies are revolutionizing modern agriculture. Join us for an inspiring seminar by Prof. José Alexandre M. Demattê. The seminar will highlight the powerful role of remote sensing technologies, including airborne and satellite platforms from all generations, in exploring soil properties at multiple scales, from individual farms to continental and global levels. It will be indicated what has been done in Brazil and in the world by their coordination regarding the indicated subject. Despite talking about agriculture, the seminar will insert the socio-economics and climate changes as well, all related to soil science.
Prof. José Alexandre M. Demattê is a full professor of Pedology and Geotechnologies in soil science and the coordinator of the Brazilian Soil Spectral Library. His research spans soil sensing at all scales, including lab, field, airborne, and satellite, using big data and digital soil mapping. He works on soil health, land use, carbon, and environmental impacts. He is actively involved in key national and international initiatives, including the Brazilian Soil Spectral Community, the Brazilian Journal of Soil Science, and the World Soils Project of the European Spatial Agency.
🗣 Format:
- 60-minute presentation
- 30-minute Q&A and discussion
