Research focus

Research focuses on massively parallel (next-generation) sequencing technologies and advanced bioinformatics to investigate genome-wide (epi)genomics and transcriptomics, including single-cell applications. Prof. Filip Van Nieuwerburgh heads the UGent NGS core and the NXTGNT sequencing facility at Ghent University. The group develops and implements sequencing and computational pipelines across a broad range of applications, with strong emphasis on pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetics, as well as forensics, medical genetics, mRNA delivery technologies, and the detection of circulating tumour DNA.
