EAJS 2023 conference in Ghent

EAJS2023, the 17th International Conference of the European Association for Japanese Studies (EAJS) will be hosted by the Institute of Japanese Studies at Ghent University on 17-20 August 2023.

This conference with more than 700 presentations in different sections and fields such as art, history, philosophy, anthropology, politics, Japanese language, etc. is the largest Japan-related conference in the world and attracts researchers from Japan, Asia, the USA, etc. next to many European specialists.

Thanks to the support of the City of Ghent, a Kimono exhibition in the Vandenhove Pavilion and a film festival with Japanese documentaries will also be shown in the Studioskoop during the conference. These are free of charge for Ghent residents.

The conference will take place in hybrid format, enabling participation both in person and online.
