Sophie Hoozée is Associate Professor of Management Accounting and Control and a member of FlandersMake@UGent – corelab CVAMO. She teaches BSc and MSc courses on cost accounting, management accounting and management control. Her research focuses on the design of costing systems and management control systems, especially in societally important contexts. Sophie is an editorial board member of Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal and Social & Environmental Accountability Journal. Before joining Ghent University in 2015, Sophie spent five years abroad: two years at IESEG School of Management (Lille, France) and three years at Erasmus School of Economics (Rotterdam, The Netherlands).
Sophie has published in Accounting, Organizations and Society (2020, 2024), Abacus (2012), Accounting, Auditing & Accountability Journal (2022), Australian Accounting Review (2018), European Accounting Review (2018, 2022), Issues in Accounting Education (2015), Journal of Accounting and Public Policy (2023), Journal of Accounting Education (2020), Journal of Cleaner Production (2016), Journal of Management Accounting Research (2018), Journal of Management Control (2022), Management Accounting Research (2010, 2013, 2022, 2023), Radiotherapy & Oncology (2019), Scandinavian Journal of Management (2017) and Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal (2019). She is also a co-author of several textbooks.
In addition to her academic work, Sophie is a non-executive board member at Primoris, CKCert and Ciboris as well as an independent non-executive board member and chair of the audit committee at Europabank. Sophie also acts as a jury member on the judging panel for the Best Belgian Sustainability Report Award.
