Impact of Critical Illness on Drug Disposition in Neonates and Children

Description

Drug disposition is driven by physiological processes of growth and development. In critically ill children, pathophysiological and treatment induced changes can also lead to alterations in PK. In this line of research, we investigate drug disposition (including tissue penetration) in children admitted to the neonatal and pediatric ICU, in order to derive evidence-based dosing regimens

The ongoing research is performed in close collaboration with clinicians from the neonatal and pediatric ICU unit (prof. S. Vanhaesebrouck and dr. Evelyn Dhont).
