Honorary doctorate Prof David Julius - March 2022

On March 18, 2022, Prof David Julius, Nobel Laureate in Medicine & Physiology 2021, received an honorary doctorate from Ghent University. Prof. Frank Bosmans of our department was his supervisor.

Our ability to sense heat and cold through touch is essential for survival and colors our interaction with the world around us. In everyday life, we take these sensations for granted. But how are nerve impulses generated so that temperature can be perceived? This complex question is answered by David Julius, the 2021 Nobel laureate in medicine and physiology.
