Child Orthopaedics

Within this line of research, the 'Orthopaedics and Traumatology Research Group' focuses its research on surgical and non-surgical treatment of postural and movement disorders due to cerebral palsy (and other neuromuscular disorders).

Research projects

Study of the effects of drug-based therapy on the optimization of movement and function in children and adults with cerebral palsy

 

Study of the effects of (multilevel) surgery to optimize and maintain movement and function in children and adults with cerebral palsy (both for the upper and lower limb)

 

Research into alternative (non-fusion) techniques in the treatment of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis

Collaborations

  • Multidisciplinary research group with IBiTech to optimise used materials for orthosis policy
  • The study of the effects of (multilevel) surgery uses the multidisciplinarity of the Reference Center for Cerebral Palsy, the Neuromuscular Reference Center and the Laboratory for Movement Analysis (University Hospital Ghent).
