Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition

Our team specializes in patient tailored care for children with gastro-intestinal, nutritional or hepatological diseases. This in close collaboration with the Ghent University Hospital as well with other specialized centers in and out of Belgium.

Research Activities

The research within the pediatric gastroenterology department focuses on inflammatory bowel disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, cystic fibrosis, feeding problems, short bowel and transition from pediatric to adult care. In collaboration with the Hepatology Research Unit at Ghent University Hospital, the pathogenesis, risk factors and non-invasive diagnostic markers in pediatric non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is investigated.
