Research Activities
The department of pediatric nephrology-rheumatology participates at various high quality research projects in collaboration with national and international partners. This contributes to the continuous improvement of patient care, quality of life and psychological wellbeing. Hereby, the involvement of children, young patients and families is highly encouraged.
Research Staff
- Prof. dr. Ann Raes: congenital anomalies of kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT), urinary tract infections (UTI) and bladder disorders, pediatric acute and chronic kidney disease, hypertension, rare diseases, pediatric collaborative medicine research
- Prof. dr. Johan Vande Walle: pediatric collaborative drug research, nephrotic syndrome, uremic toxin research, enuresis, bladder disorders, renal circadian rhythms, C4C international network
- Prof. dr. Joke Dehoorne: therapeutic drug monitoring in juvenile idiopathic non-infectious uveitis, systemic onset JIA with MAS en hyperinflammatory syndromes with special emphasis on biomarker profiling in inflammatory systemic diseases
- Prof. dr. Agnieszka Prytula: pediatric kidney transplantation with focus on chronic kidney disease, bone and mineral disorder and the medical and socio-economic aspects of live kidney donation in Belgium. Close collaboration with the CERTAIN and Eurotransplant Registries
