About us

The High-Throughput Screening for Synthetic Biology (HTSforSynBio) core facility supports design, discovery, engineering and scale-up of microbial cell factories for the production of enzymes, proteins and other biomolecules.

At the Centre for Synthetic Biology (CSB), state-of-the-art infrastructure is available for the processing of (engineered) microbes and enzymes, and the identification of (new) products in a high-throughput fashion.

Access to HTSforSynBio

At HTSforSynBio, we believe in tailored solutions. Every project is customized to meet the specific needs of your company or research team, ensuring that the collaboration aligns with your available resources, desired level of involvement, and project scale.

External partners, including companies and academic institutions, can choose from three collaboration models:

  • Full Support – We manage and execute the entire project on your behalf.
  • Shared Approach – We work alongside your team, providing guidance and support throughout the implementation process.
  • Infrastructure Access – You gain access to our facilities and equipment while carrying out the work independently.

Our collaborations follow a structured process:

  • Initial Contact & Intake Meeting – We discuss your objectives, experimental setup, and specific requirements.
  • Definition of Responsibilities & Cost Estimate – Clear agreements are made regarding resource allocation, involvement, timelines, and budget.
  • Quotation & Agreement – A detailed proposal is prepared. Depending on the nature and scope of the project, a service agreement, research contract, and/or non-disclosure agreement (NDA) may be required.

This approach ensures full transparency throughout the collaboration process and provides a clear framework for working with HTSforSynBio.

For internal users from Ghent University, access to equipment and facilities is coordinated through CMFS after an initial intake.
