ERC applications
How do you apply for an ERC grant within the Department of Literary Studies?
Procedure for ERC applications
Step 1: registration
Contact the Department Chair and write a motivation letter/integration text. It should be no longer than two pages and include three sections: teaching, research, and academic services (including leadership, societal outreach, and institutional engagement). It is important that you address all these aspects.
You will focus more specifically on the following aspects:
- Your compatibility with the Department’s research and research groups and – on a broader level – the Faculty’s or University’s, as well as academic valorization.
- Your compatibility with the education provided by the study programs the department is involved in. ERC grant holders are expected to make a substantial contribution to our teaching (max. 2 courses per year).
- Your vision on and any experience with academic services (including leadership, societal outreach and institutional engagement).
Submit this motivation letter/integration text together with your CV and an abstract of the ERC research proposal to the Department Chair.
Step 2: the selection committee
The committee sonsists consists of three permanent members:
- the (Vice-)Department Chair;
- the Research Policy Officer;
- an OAP-representative.
The Programme Committee(s) Chair and Vice-Chair are invited to attend.
The Department Chair determines which groups/units are involved for each candidate. These groups/units are invited to express their interest in participating in the interview with the candidate. Those persons indicating their interest in becoming a member of the selection committee, receive the candidate's dossier and motivation letter/integration text.
Step 3: online interview
The members of the selection committee conduct an online interview with the candidate and prepare a reasoned recommendation for the Faculty Policy Committee.
Step 4: Feedback
The Faculty Policy Committee discusses the recommendation and provides feedback to the candidate.
