Master's Degree in Interpreting

The Master's Degree in Interpreting builds on the skills, insights and expertise acquired during the Bachelor in Applied Language Studies. It should go without saying that a perfect command of Dutch & your 2 foreign languages will be essential.

The Master's Degree in Interpreting will prepare you for a professional career as an interpreter. The contribution and the significance of interpreting are steadily increasing as a result of the growing internationalization of our economic, political and social lives.

As a graduate in interpreting you will possess excellent verbal language skills, a highly developed capacity for concentration and an ability to cope with stress.

Drawing on extensive scientific research, you will be equipped to take a critical approach to the methods and techniques employed in the practice of interpreting, and to apply these in practical situations.

The discussions interpreted may be general in nature, or they may belong in one of three specific contexts: commercial, social or legal interpreting.  You might work as a freelance interpreter, or join the staff of the interpreting department of a major national or international organization, a government agency or a private sector company.

The Master's Degree can be completed within one year (60 study credits). The programme builds on the skills, insights and expertise acquired during the Bachelor in Applied Language Studies. It should go without saying that a perfect command of Dutch and your two chosen foreign languages will be essential.

The course is taught in the Dutch language.
