Master's Degree in Translation

The Master's Degree in Translation builds on the skills, insights and expertise acquired during the Bachelor in Applied Language Studies. It should go without saying that a perfect command of Dutch & your two foreign languages will be essential.

This is the option for those wishing to make use of their translation talents in a variety of practical ways. You might work as a freelance translator, or join the staff of a translation agency, or the translation department of an international company. You could also further specialize, as a sworn translator, a terminologist, a translator/editor or a subtitler; or you could combine translation work with creative copywriting, the management of multilingual websites or social media accounts or the localization of software or video games. As a translator then you are more than simply an expert a foreign language, you are trained in the translation and revision of different types of complex text, with the ability and creativity to organize the entire translation process, making use of all the technological support available today. In-depth scientific research will equip you to take a critical approach to the methods and techniques employed in the practice of translation, and to apply these in a practical setting.
