Mathias Seghers

Biography

I graduated as a Master in Translation (Ghent University) in 2017, and after a short yet enjoyable specific teacher’s training detour (Ghent University as well), I obtained BOF funding to pursue a PhD project at the MULTIPLES research group. I am currently conducting experimental research that probes into attitudes towards non-standard language features in Dutch interactions between consumers and companies on corporate Facebook pages. In addition, I am looking to measure the impact of those features on a range of variables, such as source and message credibility. In my spare time, I teach English grammar to undergraduate students of the Applied Linguistics programme at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication.
