Interviews with senior professionals

CIMS (UGent) is engaged in an analysis of film industry key stakeholders’ experiences of recent technological, policy, and other changes in the European film landscape. Using in-depth interviews and oral history methodologies, the research will examine how representatives of regional, national and cross-national film industries look back at and interpret the strategies developed in order to overcome challenges such as digitization and the increased market competition in the production, distribution, marketing, promotion and exhibition of films. Among the interviewees are representatives linked to regional, national, and European policy-making, production, distribution, exhibition, streaming services, data providers, industry experts

Survey on young people’s film preferences

CIMS (UGent) is collaborating with several European institutions to conduct a survey on young people's film preferences across Europe, led and constructed mainly by researchers at the University of Jyväskylä (JYU). Our role in this project involves gathering insights into what films and TV series young individuals aged 12 to 24 prefer, spanning secondary schools and universities. We aim to collect at least 500 responses from each participating country, ensuring a diverse sample representing different genders, residences, and cultural backgrounds. The survey covers topics such as preferred genres, favourite films, and basic demographic information. We are committed to ethical considerations, ensuring the protection of minors and complying with GDPR regulations by not collecting any personal information, nor information that could lead to the identification of the minor. The survey will be conducted both online and on paper, with statistical and qualitative analyses applied to the collected data.
