Robert holds a Licentiate in Philosophy and Theology from Comillas University in Spain, and an MA in the History of Film and Visual Media from Birkbeck, University of London in the UK. His MA dissertation explored the influence of storytelling in early narrative cinema in New York City on Irish-American identities. Robert is presently pursuing a PhD at Ghent University, in which he examines how the antihero evolved during the New Hollywood period.
Beyond academia, Robert’s cinema and media interests include filmmaking as well as film criticism and cultural commentary in print press, and on radio and television.
Robert has lectured on American cinema for the online History MSc course at the University of Edinburgh in the UK. He is spending the academic year 2014-15 at Harvard University in the US as a visiting scholar.
