Personalia

Teodora Oita obtained a master’s degree in Communication Studies, specializing in Film and Television Studies, at Ghent University in 2025. For her thesis, she conducted a qualitative analysis of the discursive construction of femininity in fully AI‑generated pornographic images.

Before this, she earned a master’s degree in Visual Arts (Graphic Design) from KASK & Conservatorium in 2022. This master’s project poetically explored the concept of liminality and states of ambiguity, reflecting an early interest in meaning‑making practices. This foundation continues to inform her research.

She is currently a junior researcher on the “Iconic: Hype or Historical?” project, supervised by Prof. dr. Daniel Biltereyst, Prof. dr. Stijn Joye, and Prof. dr. Eduard Cuelenaere. In this project, she will investigate how iconic photographs emerge, what roles they play, and how they shape meaning in today’s visual culture.
