Research Day 2025 Award Ceremony

(17-11-2025) On Friday 14 November, researchers were challenged to present their work briefly, clearly, and in a visually appealing way. Four doctoral students received awards.

Let your work shine. Guided by that familiar call, the Faculty Research Day took place once again on Friday 14 November 2025. Each year, the Faculty of Law and Criminology encourages its researchers to step outside their bubble, present their work, and discover what colleagues across the faculty are working on.

Varied programme

In addition to the keynote delivered by FWO Chair Bruno Blondé, there were 27 posters and 19 presentations. Three new researchers - Louis Favril, Mathieu Leloup and Thomas Spijkerboer - introduced their research plans during 'Meet the Researcher'. Eight students from the course Academic Grant Writing also pitched their project proposals.

Participants in the poster session, in which complex research is presented in a clear and engaging way, were eligible for a jury award and/or an audience award. The laureates receive a budget that enables them to present their research at a scientific conference: €500 for the first prize and the audience award, €400 for the second prize, and €250 for the third prize.

Jury Award & Audience Award

The valorisation group — a team of professionals who advise the faculty on the societal impact and relevance of academic research — selected three winners from the poster submissions. They looked for posters that presented a complex topic clearly and in a visually appealing way. Participants of the Research Day were also able to vote for their favourite.
