Anna Nylund, Holder of the Marcel Storme Chair 2024-25

Each year, the Faculty of Law and Criminology, in collaboration with the Willy Delva Fund (vzw Fonds Willy Delva), awards the Marcel Storme Chair to a legal scholar of international renown. Prof. Wannes Vandenbussche and Piet Taelman (Institute for Procedural Law) are delighted to welcome Anna Nylund from the University of Bergen, Norway, as the holder of this prestigious chair for the academic year 2024-25.
Anna Nylund is a leading expert in civil procedure, alternative dispute resolution, comparative law, and children's access to justice. She has done extensive work in national, European and comparative civil procedure and dispute resolution, and in the foundations of civil and family justice systems.
The Marcel Storme Chair includes a research stay in Ghent of up to two months and the delivery of a lecture series for approximately 15 hours. Specifically, Anna Nylund will offer guest lectures in February and March in the courses International & European Procedure and Advanced Civil Procedure. She will also participate in a PhD seminar on civil procedure, organized in collaboration with Leiden University, as well as in an event with the Ghent Bar Association and judiciary.
Finally, on Tuesday, 18 March, at 5 PM, Anna Nylund will deliver her public lecture titled ‘If Mediation Is the Answer, What Is the Question? Ideas for Accessible, Just, and Sustainable Dispute Resolution’. Anyone with an interest in conflict resolution is warmly invited to attend this lecture and the subsequent reception. Accreditation for this lecture has been requested from the Federal Mediation Commission.
