Alumni Association
Ghent University History Alumni Association (OSGG)
The OSGG (Ghent University History Alumni Association) was founded in 1947 by Prof. Jan Dhondt. The OSGG brings together all historians who have graduated from Ghent University since 1891.
The OSGG fosters links between all Ghent historians, between them and the university, and between them and the wider world of history. To this end, the OSGG organises an annual, well-attended networking day with a lecture for all graduates. On this day, the OSGG prizes are awarded to the recent graduates, amongst other things.
Occasionally, the OSGG also organises excursions to cities, exhibitions, archives, museums and archaeological sites both at home and abroad. The OSGG also organises academic conferences, study days and refresher courses for historians and frequently publishes the results of these events. For example, since 1974, in collaboration with the Teacher Training Programme at Ghent University, the OSGG has organised two to four refresher course afternoons each year.
