Hearing Technology

Western Europe’s aging population increases the prevalence of hearing loss. At the same time, current diagnoses tools and prothesis underperform. The complex interaction between the hearing periphery and the neural circuitry is a main cause.

We have brought together a unique research chain that includes modelling (periphery, neural activity, …), pre-clinical research on diagnoses, hearing aids of the future, and innovative neural stimulation hardware. This is complemented with clinical expertise.

Auditory Neuroscience & Modeling

Investigation of how acoustic signals are encoded along the auditory pathway using computational models, EEG, otoacoustic emissions, and psychoacoustics.

Diagnostics & Hearing Rehabilitation

Development of novel diagnostic tools for hearing loss and tinnitus, and research into personalized hearing aid and cochlear implant strategies.
