Print, copy and scan documents

Students can print, copy and scan documents on all publicly available copiers.

Please note: This information only applies to all publicly available copiers that will be placed from 7 July 2025 onwards at the locations listed below (replacing the old devices on which you were able to pay with e-purse).

On all publicly available copiers (also called "multifunctionals"), students can:

  • print documents (for a fee)
  • copy documents (for a fee)
  • scan documents (free of charge).

Payment system

You pay via the myPrint payment system.

Add money to your account

  1. Go to https://myprintstud.ugent.be.
  2. Login with your UGent account (with MFA).
  3. Select the option “UGent Single Sign On using CAS”.
  4. Select the option "Purchase credit".
  5. Select the desired amount and payment method.
  6. Make the payment.

Account Balance

You can check your myPrint balance at:

To check your myPrint balance on a multifunctional, you act as follows:

  1. Put your student card on the card reader of the multifunctional.
  2. Select the icon with the 3 dashes (top right).
  3. Select "SLNX User info".
  4. Check your balance under "Account Balance".

Cost

Format Sides Colour Black/White
A4 Single-sided 0,20 0,04
A4 Double-sided 0,15 0,03 *
A3 Single-sided 0,40 0,08
A3 Double-sided 0,30 0,06

* By default, the multifunctional prints your documents in A4 format, double-sided and in black and white. If necessary, adjust these settings when giving your print job.

Payment in case of device problems

Before starting a print job, your myPrint balance is debited with the expected balance. If the print job cannot be fully executed due to circumstances (paper jam, manually stopping the job, ...), the remaining balance will be re-credited to your myPrint balance (with some delay).

So to be clear, you always pay only for the pages that are actually printed or copied.

Printing documents

Step 1: Give a print job

Printing via the website myprintstud.ugent.be

This is the simplest way to print, as you can give a print job:

  • from a UGent computer (e.g. in a library), your own computer and even a smartphone.
  • without having to add a multifunctional as a printer on your own computer first.
  • regardless of the operating system on your computer (Windows, Mac or Linux).
  • from any location with Internet access (e.g. you give a print job at home and go and print the documents before or after your lecture at a multifunctional of your choice).

Method

  1. Go to https://myprintstud.ugent.be.
  2. Login with your UGent account (with MFA).
  3. Select the option “UGent Single Sign On using CAS”.
  4. Select or drag all files to the field for printing.
  5. Select the option "Print".

Printing via your own computer

To print documents from your own computer running a recent version of Windows, you will first need to add the myPrint printer as follows:

  1. Go to https://myprintstud.ugent.be.
    1. Login with your UGent account (with MFA).
    2. Select the option “UGent Single Sign On using CAS”.
    3. Select the option "Install printer".
    4. Select the option "Download package".
  2. Open the downloaded file.
    • Do you get a warning that this file is unsafe? Then click on "More info" and "Run anyway" and let the installation run.
  3. Go to the start menu in Windows > Settings > Printers and scanners.
    1. Select the myPrint printer.
    2. Select "Printer properties".
    3. Select "Advanced options".
    4. Select "User Authentication":
      • Activate "User authentication".
      • Activate “Display [Authentication] Dialog before printing”.
      • Set "Condition to Display" to “While [Login User Name] is blank”.
  4. Enter your UGent username and password when giving a print job.
    • Use your short username and not your e-mail address.

Printing via Athena

Are you using Athena for the first time on your device? Then install the Citrix Workspace app first!

  1. Surf to https://athena.ugent.be and log in with your UGent account.
  2. Open the app "File Explorer".
  3. Open the document you want to print.
  4. Select "File" > "Print".
  5. Select the myPrint printer.
