The exhibition “The Eye on the Skin: On Architecture, Film and Video” examines the cinematic perception of architecture. Artists and filmmakers use the camera eye to give shape to the human vision on architecture in its technical, social, artistic and subjective forms. A selection of films is divided into five themes: Construction, Living in Architecture, Art as Architecture, In-sight and Traces of Memory. Displayed in the studio space of VANDENHOVE, ten screens show films in loop by James Casebere, Robbrecht Desmet, Charles & Ray Eames, Ellen Harvey, Hans Op de Beeck, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven, Agnes Varda, and Rachel Whiteread among many others.

The exhibition is curated by master students Art History in the context of the research seminar Modern and Contemporary Art by Prof. Dr. Wouter Davidts and Prof. Dr. Steven Jacobs.

With the assistance of Griet Bonne, Anton Pereira Rodriguez, Joséphine Vandekerckhove and Bram Vandeveire.

On 6 and 7 December, the exhibition © COBRA: Photography, Film and Prints is on display on the top floor of VANDENHOVE.
