Paul Robbrecht brought back drawings, watercolors and photographs from a study trip to the Land of the Pyramids. They testify to his surprise at the "discovery of the known”. His impressions of the union of elementary architectural forms in a sublime landscape with a graceful, highly refined imagery, dialogue with a wide selection of prints from the monumental series "La Description de l'Egypte" (1809). These publications (1809-1829) on Napoleon Bonaparte's scientific-artistic Egypt expedition are in the collection of the Ghent University Library.
