Impressies: From the Graphic Collection of the Frans Masereel Center
- This page is part of our exhibition archive. The exhibition took place from 22/04/2021 to 01/05/2021
IMPRESSIES is a curatorial experiment in which the contemporary potential of this graphic collection is explored. It enables an intimate connection with the works in a corona-proof cabinet of prints. In this cabinet, the visitor can enjoy a series of thematically connected works, becoming acquainted with the highly tactile and material aspects of the prints and their artisanal creation.
In addition, this exhibition includes an immersive installation submerging the visitor into a whirlwind of fifty years of graphic experiments. Through a combination of physical objects and digital reproductions and the use of museal, tactile and immersive forms of display, IMPRESSIES bridges the distance between artworks and spectator.
IMPRESSIES is organized and contextualized by students of the “Research Seminar Modern and Contemporary Art” in the master's degree program in Art History, Musicology, and Theatre Studies at Ghent University. It includes some 150 works by Roland Tyou, Anne-Mie Groenen, Wim Van Pelt, Adrianus Van Otterloo, Johan De Zoete, Walter Dohmen, Henk Deylius, Bertha Haak, Erika Chaffart, Joke Van Dam, Charles van Gisbergen, Linda Terboven, Katrin Van Heck and Heinz Falke amongst others.
