Biography:

Dr. Martin Purino obtained his degree MSc. Chemistry in 2005 at the National University of San Luis, Argentina. In 2013, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of La Laguna (Tenerife, Spain), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Victor S. Martin Garcia and Dr. Juan I. Padron Pena. His main topic of research involved natural product chemistry, synthesis of heterocycles, and density functional theory (DFT) studies of those heterocycles formed by Fe(III) catalysts. That same year, he joined the Laboratory for Chemical Technology (LCT, Ghent University), working as a postdoctoral researcher in the area of molecular modeling and ab initio based kinetic modeling of acid catalyzed reactions under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Guy B. Marin and Prof. Dr. Marie-Françoise Reyniers. After his postdoctoral training, Dr. Purino joined the Avroxa spin-off project in 2016. Being co-responsible for the production process of 2-oxazoline monomers, his main activities involve the design, synthesis, purification, up-scaling and process optimization of those chemicals. In addition, some parallel activities include writing standard operating procedures and setting up quality control procedures. Next to the commercial production of poly(2-oxazoline)s, Dr. Purino is also responsible for the management of the laboratory of our research group.
