Biography:

Ronald Merckx is a Ph.D. researcher in the Supramolecular Chemistry group since he obtained his master degree in 'Molecular and Macromolecular Design' from Ghent University under supervision of Prof. Richard Hoogenboom. Ronald obtained his FWO-SB scholarship at the end of 2018, and started his research in 2019.

Research project:

The main research of Ronald's project is the design of versatile nanofiber sensor networks. By combining organic dye synthesis and modern polymer chemistry, it is possible to use nanofiber networks in a wide variety of applications (e.g. food packaging). Next to nanofiber sensor research, Ronald is exploring the possibility to enhance light harvesting using dye-labeled polymers.
