Salvatore Meles is a PhD student working on the project NITROSCOPE, under the supervision of Prof. Abdul Mouazen at Ghent University. His doctoral research, titled “Evaluation of N fluxes under site-specific fertilization and manure application,” focuses on monitoring and modeling nitrogen dynamics to improve nitrogen use efficiency in precision agriculture systems.
He obtained his Master’s Degree in Sustainable Agriculture – Organic and Eco-compatible Agriculture from the University of Perugia on October 27, 2025, graduating with top honors (110/110).
His Master’s thesis, titled “Sensor-based monitoring of nitrogen status in processing tomato,” focused on the analysis of nitrogen nutritional status in processing tomato using precision agriculture tools and proximal optical sensors for measuring vegetation indices. The main objective of his work was to optimize nitrogen fertilization management and develop predictive models to enhance the efficiency of precision agriculture in tomato cultivation.
