Abstract

It’s never too late to start growing your future career and shaping your future begins with you.

This training will help you build the brand called YouTM by starting from your strengths, values, and passions. Starting from why you do what you do, how you do it and what you stand for. Afterwards, you will learn how and where to sell it. This includes getting insider information on how talent-based recruitment works. As well as learning about how to prepare, the dos and don’ts for your resume and how to shine in your interview.

Objectives

After having attended this workshop, you will be able to

1.     Enhance your self-awareness by developing your Brand You™, and learn how to sell your personal brand effectively.

2.     Understand what recruiters seek across different types of organisations, including academic institutions, small and large industries, government bodies, and NGOs.

3.     Understand the market trends and the different organisational cultures.

4.     Prepare and practice each stage of the job application process, including networking, job searching, online and email applications, crafting a CV and cover letter, building and optimising a LinkedIn profile, preparing for online assessment tests, excelling in assessment interviews, and negotiating salary.

5.     Understand the purpose of a CV and the key do’s and don’ts for creating a non-academic CV.

Programme

Day 1

  1. Increase your self-awareness by building the ‘brand called you’, from your strengths, values and passions.
  2. Learn why, when, and how to sell the brand YouTM.
  3. Understand what recruiters want, in the different types of organisations (academic, small and large industry, government and NGO).

Day 2

  1. How to prepare and practice each part of the job application process:
    • Networking
    • Job searching
    • Online application/email application
    • CV + cover letter
    • LinkedIn
    • Online assessment testing

Day 3 Half-day training and 15min 1-on-1 coaching

  1. How to prepare and practice each part of the job application process:
    • Assessment interview
    • Salary negotiation.
  2.   15-minute of 1-on-1 coaching

Before and after the training, there will be an opportunity to book a 15-minute one-on-one coaching session with the trainer on any topic of your choice. These will only be organised on the 3rd training day.

Contribution to all steps of the training, from pre-work, active participation during the training, and updating personal materials for the 1-on-1 coaching.; After successful participation, the Doctoral School Office will add this course to your curriculum of the Doctoral Training Programme in Oasis. Please note that this can take up to one to two months after completion of the course.
