• New textbook on Management Accounting and Control

  

  Sophie Hoozée and Sophie Maussen, together with coauthors Patricia Everaert and Werner Bruggeman, are excited to share their new textbook in English that brings together management accounting and management control in a single, coherent, and accessible volume. The book offers a comprehensive overview of costing and performance measurement techniques and control practices for (future) managers.

  Unlike many existing textbooks, we discuss the design of control practices drawing on theories from both behavioural economics (e.g., agency theory) and psychology (e.g., self-determination theory) and explain how they combine to form a management control package. We also devote special attention to decision-making and control in organisations that pursue environmental and social objectives alongside financial ones.

  Firmly grounded in academic research yet directly applicable in practice, the book is written for:

  • undergraduate and graduate students,
  • instructors seeking to build a strong conceptual and practical foundation, and
  • executives, controllers, and information system designers looking for tools that can be readily deployed in their organisations.
