Research Day

Cancellation Research Day: The government recommends avoiding situations where many people gather to slow down the further spread of the Coronavirus. It was therefore decided to cancel the Research Day of the faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine on 2 April 2020.

The Research Day is a cooperation between the Scientific Research Committees and Student Councils of the faculties of Medicine and Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.

The objectives are:

  • presenting research (posters, presentations, lectures)
  • connecting researchers (networking moments)
  • stimulating research skills (workshops, informations stands, (poster)presentations)

Practical information

  • When: Thursday April 2, 2020 - from 9:15 until 17:45
  • Where: Campus Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ottergemsesteenweg 460, 9000 Ghent
  • Whom: The event is open for master thesis and honours programme students, (post)doctoral researchers, professors, clinicians (for physicians accreditation will be requested) and everyone with an interest for research in life sciences & medicine.
  • Registration: Registration is not possible due to a cancellation of the event.

Application for poster presentation

An Honours Programme, master thesis or doctoral student of the faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Veterinary Medicine can present their research by means of a poster (max. 6 minutes poster presentation including question round). The presentation is entirely in English and the timing will be strictly followed. You can apply by submitting an abstract and poster of your research through the online form (submission posters temporarily not possible due to cancellation event - submission (incl. new deadline) back active as soon as new date event is determined). A maximum of 120 posters will be selected on a first come, first served basis.

Practical guidelines poster: only pdf, portrait size and A0-format, min. 3,5 cm margin at the top, max. 10 MB - no obligations in terms of layout and template - mention of study design of the research sufficient (research results optional). Late posters or posters that do not comply with the practical guidelines will not be accepted.

The poster exhibition is organized by the student councils StuGG, StuFF and DSR as part of the Student Research Symposium (included in the Research Day). The student councils print out the posters themselves and hang them up themselves. Prizes will be awarded for the best posters, which will be judged on the study design of the research, the structure/layout of the poster and the poster presentation. At the end of the day you can take your poster with you.
