Crew & Eric Joris

Eric Joris is a multimedia artist with an initial education in filmmaking, covering many areas such as industrial design, graphic design, comics, visual arts, installation art and last but not least performance art. Under his direction CREW Eric Joris adamantly tries to make performances at the melting point between live art and digital media. Eric Joris invents new methods for connecting state-of-the-art technology with artistic forms, often exploring and questioning the human senses, particularly our perception of sound, movement and space particularly. His company CREW generates live-art projects that can be described as immersive theatre, yet those projects move and shapeshift continuously, always operating on the borders between art and science, or beyond the limit of either. Eric Joris currently lives in Antwerp and works in Brussels.

Gianluca Verlingieri

gianlucaverlingieri.jpg

Nurtured by an unending intellectual curiosity and inspired by a constant dialectics between experimentation and sense of history, the music of Gianluca Verlingieri fully embraces the kaleidoscopic interests of its author. Indeed, his works range between different creative contexts, often deliberately fading into one another: from concert music for soloists or groups of various instruments and voices to acousmatic pieces and works for instruments and live-electronics, as well as from stage music and musical theater to soundtracks and multimedia installations. Active as a researcher, in the last few years he has identified Luciano Berio’s private sound archive at Centro Tempo Reale in Florence, now hosted at the Paul Sacher Stiftung in Basel. He also did research on the musical theater of Mauricio Kagel with his personal encouragement, and on tape music by John Cage in collaboration with the archive of Milan’s Studio di Fonologia Musicale della RAI and Edition Peters. Since 2011 he teaches electroacoustic composition at the “G. F. Ghedini” State Conservatory of Cuneo, Italy, where he also coordinates the Department of New Technologies and Musical Languages.

As a visiting artist and researcher, Gianluca Verlingieri worked on the EMS Synthi 100, to create an electronic part for a mixed music work.
