Sara Cornelis

Short bio:
Sara Cornelis, MSc, is a clinical psychologist specializing in oncology and systemic psychotherapy. She graduated from the University of Ghent in 2011, where her thesis examined therapeutic approaches for children with mutism from a psychoanalytic perspective.
Sara gained eleven years of experience at the University Hospital Ghent’s cancer center, working with adult oncology patients and their families. She was also involved in the development of the Multidisciplinary Algology Team at the hospital’s pain clinic. She completed postgraduate training in family counselling (Interactie-Academie, 2012) and systemic psychotherapy (2014–2018). In 2015, she established a private practice and has been leading her group practice, Listoire, in Kuurne since 2017.
Driven by ongoing professional development, Sara joined the Department of Clinical Psychology in 2019 as a practice assistant, contributing to the advancement of clinical training for students. Since October 2025, she has also been affiliated as a lecturer at the Interactie-Academie.
She is co-author of Touched by Cancer: Voices from the Sideline (Interactie-Academie, 2026).
