Whitney Scott
Role: Visiting postdoctoral researcher
Short bio:
Dr. Whitney Scott is a visiting postdoc at the Ghent Health Psychology Lab. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Psychology at McGill University in Canada in 2014. She then worked for a number of years as a postdoctoral fellow and clinical academic in the Health Psychology Section of the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King’s College London, where she is now a visiting Senior Lecturer. She is currently a Senior Clinical Psychologist and the Research Lead at the INPUT Pain Management Unit at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London, UK.
She has published 90 peer-reviewed journal articles on psychosocial factors related to pain and psychological treatments for managing the impact of persistent pain. Her work has been funded by the International Association for the Study of Pain and National Institute for Health Research. She is currently a co-investigator on the large multidisciplinary PAINSTORM consortium which is funded by the UK’s Medical Research Council and Versus Arthritis Advanced Pain Discovery Platform. PAINSTORM is working to understand the complexity of biopsychosocial factors that drive neuropathic pain.
