Bram Uyttenhove

Bram

Biography

Bram obtained his master’s degree in Communication Sciences at Ghent University, specializing in Communication Management. Next to that, he also holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing (specialization: Sales) obtained at Hogeschool Gent.  After his studies, he worked for a year in the marketing department of a private company. However, his interest in academic research (and a growing disdain for the marketing industry) brought him back to the faculty of political and social sciences. Since September 2022, he has been working as a PhD student at the CEPEC research group, researching parental decision making when confronted with child-targeted packaging. Additionally, the FWO-project Bram is working on heavily focuses on examining how parents can be helped in better resisting overt marketing outings on unhealthy food packaging, both via consumer empowerment strategies and policy recommendations.

PhD Project

How being a responsible parent is challenging: An inquiry on the role of delay discounting in how parents resist child-targeted product packaging.

Supervisors: Liselot Hudders and Dieneke Van de Sompel and Ini Vanwesenbeeck
