femke-fridasaeysThe Center for Cinema and Media Studies (CIMS) proudly announces that one of its members, PhD fellow Femke De Sutter, has been honored with the Frida Saeys Award. This prize is awarded to scholars who conduct outstanding research in the field of Gender and Media Studies.

The award ceremony took place during the 'Etmaal van de Communicatiewetenschap' (Communication Science Conference) held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on February 8th and 9th. Femke's groundbreaking work stood out among her peers, earning her this well-deserved recognition.

Femke received the award for a longitudinal study she conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Daniel Biltereyst and Prof. Dr. Sofie Van Bauwel that delved into the representations of older adults in Belgian cinema spanning nearly eight decades—from 1945 to 2022. Her research sheds light on the evolving portrayal of older adults in film, providing valuable insights for both academia and the industry.
