Presentation

This PhD project examines the representation of gender and sexuality in Greek film noir of the fifties and sixties in relation to the construction of modern Greek gender and sexual identities. The theoretical/methodological framework combines the psychoanalytic approach on film with discourse theory and analysis, a close reading of the filmic texts with an attempt to place them in their historical and cultural context.
