Sabine Dekie

Bio

Sabine DekieSabine has been a member of the UGent Staff since 2004. 

She started out as a financial management support at the Department of Research Coordination filling in for a maternity leave. During this time she becomes familiar with the university financial aspects, project finances and reporting and problem solving. 

After this assignment she takes up the position as ICOS with the Department of Development Cooperation where she becomes responsible for a major VLIR-IUS project with Can Tho University in Vietnam. In this role she is the hub for various professors, researchers, administrative staff as well as external stakeholders between all universities in Flanders and the Can Tho University in Vietnam on one side and the VLIR-IUS financer on the other side. She assists with administration, human logistics, financial reporting, training of administrative staff, financial audits, financial and process advise and optimization and any other assistance the project members may need. 

In 2007 she moves to become a department secretary at the department of financial economics and in 2023 she switches to the department of European, Public and International law. 

Sabine holds a professional bachelor in communication management as well as a Master in Communication Sciences from Ghent University. 

She has an active interest in human behavior and motivation and loves nothing more than to help enable people to find and develop their talents.
