UGent account, email address and password
UGent account
The Ghent University account and associated email address are valid for the duration of your enrollment and expire on October 15 of the following academic year (see Article 22 of the Education and Examination Code).
When you graduate, deregister, or do not re-enroll for the following academic year, you may lose access to certain Ghent University applications before October 15. However, you will retain access to OASIS for the entire following academic year, allowing you to view exam results and download mark sheets. If you re-enroll late via OASIS, your Ghent University account will be reactivated (this may take a few days).
Information for specific student groups
- New students will automatically receive an email to activate their UGent account at the email address they provided. If you have not received this email, please refer to myaccount.ugent.be
- Students with a diploma contract and credit contract automatically get a UGent account and email address. This account gives access to Ufora, Oasis and Athena.
- Students with an exam contract can get a UGent account and email address by paying an additional 500 EUR. This account will then give you access to Ufora, Oasis and Athena for the subjects for which you are enrolled. In exceptional and justified cases, you can request remission of this amount via a letter addressed to the rector.
- Students of the University Language Centre will automatically receive an email to activate their UGent account at the email address they provided.
- Job students can apply for a UGent account via the ICT helpdesk.
UGent email address
The Ghent University email address (usually firstname.name@ugent.be) is used as the official communication channel. You are therefore required to read the emails sent to your Ghent University email address. Among other things, confirmation of your (re)enrollment and the invoice for the payment of your tuition fees will be sent to your Ghent University email address. You can check your Ghent University email via your browser or your own email application.
