Advances in thermochemical valorization of biomass to value-added products

In this -intentionally- broad research topic, different thermochemical conversion methods have been applied to different biomass resources, envisaging different end products. One major branch is the production, characterisation, application, and technology integration of biochar (Images 1 and 2).  Another research branch covers the production of fine chemicals from lignin-rich and mannan-rich residues to provide our future biorefineries. See images 3 and 4.
