About the Library

The library of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning is located behind the entrance hall of the Plateau Building. There, the former physics laboratory was converted by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen into a library that can be transformed into a lecture hall for the faculty after closing hours. With its collection and research facilities, the library is an important place for education and research within the department.

Collection

The most extensive part of the department's collection consists of monographs on contemporary and twentieth-century architects. Urban planning, spatial planning, architectural theory, architectural history and building technology are also well represented. Subscriptions are maintained to most of the significant journals and databases on architectural culture, contemporary art and building technology. The library also has an extensive archive collection of historically important journals.

The Bekaert Library is fully integrated into the collection.
