Short CV

Marina Emmanouil holds a PhD and an MA in the History of Design (RCA), and a BA (Hons) in Graphic Design. She is an Assist. Professor at Ghent University since 2017 and her teaching and research involves the history and theory of design, methodology, and design education. Marina is a founding member of the Design.Nexus research group, in which she leads the education pillar. As of November 2019, she is the project manager of the Erasmus+ ‘Knowledge Alliances’ project on co-creation in education. She is currently supervising a number of master’s students and 3 doctoral students on the subjects of creativity and innovation, design education and peer-to-peer learning, and co-creation and phygital learning in design education. With her social design practice, she has contributed to the development of accessibility programs for visually impaired people in the museum context.
