Soetkin Cornelis obtained her Master's degree in Industrial Sciences: Industrial Design at Ghent University, Campus Kortrijk, in 2024, followed by a Postgraduate degree in Innovative Entrepreneurship for Engineers.
For her master's thesis, she developed, through an intensive co-creative process, a product that supports active wheelchair users in cleaning their wheels. This research was awarded two ie-net prizes and resulted in a presentation at the ALTER conference Disability Research for the Real World.
In addition, during an internship at MAC – National Microelectronics Applications Centre (Ireland), she collaborated on the European Horizon 2020 SignON project, where she conducted user tests with the Flemish Deaf community.
Her PhD currently encompasses design, healthcare innovation, co-creative design processes and living labs within healthcare.
