AwISE - Alumni International Students in Engineering

On the 150th anniversary of AIG (Alumni Ingenieurs Gent) the alumni association of Ghent University engineers, we are proud to introduce AwISE, a new alumni network especially created for our international engineering graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture UGent.

In 1876, AIG was founded by a group of graduates who feared losing sight of one another after graduation. Their vision remains as relevant today as it was then. Because some connections should never fade.

Our international students are an invaluable part of our faculty. They contribute to academic excellence, research innovation, intercultural understanding, and societal impact across every continent. Through AwISE, we want to ensure that our international alumni stay connected, continue to inspire one another, and remain informed about each other's achievements, careers, innovations, and research.

The name AwISE pays tribute to iWISE, the welcome programme that marked the beginning of many international students' journeys at our faculty. At the same time, it reflects the word wise: the knowledge, experiences, and perspectives our alumni gained during their time with us, and our shared commitment to lifelong learning in a rapidly changing world.

Our mission is to foster a global community, support career development, and strengthen ties between alumni, students, and the faculty. As international ambassadors of our faculty around the world, our alumni play a vital role in strengthening these connections and extending the impact of our community far beyond our campus. We organize networking events, share opportunities, and celebrate alumni achievements around the world. We invite all international engineering alumni of Ghent University to join the AwISE network and help shape its future.

Welcome to AwISE. Once part of our community, always part of our community.
