AIdesignTEX: Innovative IT tools for a circular textile economy
Driving sustainability and resource efficiency
The AIdesignTEX project's general objective is to establish a long-term partnership between TUL and high-ranking counterparts among EU peers through networking activities. The networking and partnership implemented in the project will raise the institutional research and administration profile of TUL in the textile production design processes by utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to develop textiles that are more easily recyclable or biodegradable.
AIdesignTEX aims to establish a long-term strategic partnership between Lodz University of Technology (TUL) and three advanced EU counterparts, namely Ghent University, University of Stavanger and the Catholic University of Ávila through networking and capacity-building activities centred around a joint micro-project on AI/ML-enabled circular textile design. A cross-cutting element of the consortium work is the mentoring and coaching scheme, in which all partners actively participate, combining expertise in circular economy, advanced IT tools, research management and knowledge transfer.
The main contributions of Ghent university – Centre for Textile Science and Engineering are related to research and experimental expertise:
- Scientific support to material analysis and recycling-related evidence base
- Research-oriented knowledge transfer activities
- Mentoring/coaching of researchers
