Book presentation with lecture by Prof. Yossef Rapoport (Queen Mary University London)

On Tuesday, December 16th, 2025 (4pm - 6pm), Prof. Yossef Rapoport (Queen Mary University London) will present his new book, Becoming Arab: The Formation of Arab Identity in the Medieval Middle East (Princeton University Press, 2025). This event is organised by the Arabic, Islamic & Middle East Studies group (GentCaimes) as part of the Middle East Studies Research Seminar Series*.

This event will take place at Blandijn, room 6.60, between 4 and 6 pm. All welcome!

*Prof. Rapoport's lecture doubles as an introduction to an exciting two-day workshop on 'Rethinking Rural Communities and Tribalism in Islamic Lands (6th–9th / 12th–15th centuries)', 17-18 December 2025 at Ghent University, co-sponsored by the Henri Pirenne Institute for Medieval Studies.
