Marylise Schmid graduated from her MSc in Environmental Assessment and Management at the University of East Anglia in 2011. Since then she has worked as an Environmental Consultant coordinating and completing Environmental Impact Assessments for various development projects in the UK and abroad, first at AECOM (2012-2015) and then at Ramboll (2017-2019).

She also worked as an Environmental and Planning Analyst at WindEurope (2019-2021). In this role she focused on the environmental impacts of wind farms and on the planning constraints to the development of wind energy across Europe, including growing public opposition. In September 2022, Marylise started my PhD as part of the Blue Balance project.

Her research focuses on resident and visitor responses to the sustainable transition of the Flemish coastal region, specifically looking into people’s perceptions of their surroundings through time and personal values.
